I’m starting to think my blog post titles are really cheesy… I just didn’t want to name this one plain “Branches”…
This past weekend we hosted an engagement party for a family friend at my parent’s cabin. The party was on Saturday afternoon. On Friday night (sort of a last minute decision) my mom and I decided to wander over to our neighbor’s land/driveway and steal borrow some branches from these huge yellow bushes that lined their driveway. Technically we did not ask to borrow them, but they are never home and we didn’t know them so we had no choice! We already had our minds set on making arrangements for the party out of these branches with pretty little yellow flowers. I’m not sure what kind of bushes/flowers they were, and of course I didn’t take a picture, unfortunately. But these arrangements made me realize what an impact pretty little branches from your neighbor’s yard can make to the look of a space. We brought in other flowers too, but I have to say these little branches were very pretty on their own!
Take a look at how much prettier these spaces look with the addition of just a few branches (I’m not saying all of these branches came from people’s backyards, but it is possible;))
I’m off to New York City to visit an old friend and bring in the New Year! I can’t believe it’s almost 2013… Maybe my resolution should be to be a better blogger :). I hope everyone has a fabulous New Year!!!!
I took the time / remembered to take pictures of my Thanksgiving! Yay me! As always, the house looked absolutely gorgeous with silver goblets, tasteful flower arrangements, white linens and my family. My aunts (and mother) and their help work hard each year to make Thanksgiving at Summerfield so special for my entire family EVERY year. There were thirty four of us this year, which is a low number compared to years past. In the past, we usually have close to fifty people for Thanksgiving lunch. Each year I appreciate this house and this family more and more. Thankful is an understatement! :)
These are some pictures from my iphone (and a few other people’s iphones), but I also took some pictures on my mom’s super nice camera that I will post as soon as I figure out how to upload the pictures to a computer, etc. (which could be years from now, but hopefully not).
If you follow me on instagram (@wheelerlewis1) you may have already seen a few of these.
That is me holding my beautiful godson, James, who I just met for the first time!
We’re getting closer to the holiday season so I thought now would be a good time for a little bar inspiration for those holiday parties you might be hosting. In my opinion, the bar is one of the most important aspects of a party – maybe even THE most important. I’m just being honest. One of the first things most people do when they walk in the door is find the bar and drink a cocktail. At least that is the case for all of the parties that I attend :) So here are a couple of yummy holiday cocktails I found on pinterest. And then some fun pictures.
First up: Peppermint Eggnog Punch. How delicious does this look? Ice cream is by far one of my favorite foods (if not my absolute favorite). I could eat ice cream any time of year – even in the freezing cold. And I love anything mint flavored. Combine those two things and I’m happy… and drunk ;)
