Rain, Rain, Go Away!

I was hoping to have a gorgeous tan right now, after spending my 4th of July break here:

Elle Decor #pool #summer

But that did not work out as I planned.  I ended up spending zero time in the sun because it rained in Atlanta for about six days straight.   At least the rain kept the temperatures down (good for our plants and power bills)!

I’m praying for sun this weekend, what about ya’ll?

Outdoor Dine Time

This past weekend the weather was absolutely gorgeous in Atlanta.  It definitely has me excited about Spring and having a tan line!   Grilling out and sitting by the pool/lake are some of my favorite things to do.  And it’s almost that time of year here in the south.

Cabin Weekend and Fireplaces

summerfield

This weekend I hosted a lot of friends at my parents cabin on Monteagle Mountain.  It was the prefect weather for a cabin weekend:  freezing cold.  So about 18 of my friends and several dogs spent a lot of time in front of a bonfire outside or in front of the fireplace inside.  I don’t know how to build a fire but if I ever do have a working fireplace you can bet that it will be a REAL one. And I will learn how to build a fire in it…

After being freezing last weekend, I’m going to Birmingham for a wedding this weekend where it is expected to reach 72 degrees.  In January.  Crazy.

[sorry for the blurry pictures!  And thank you to Michelle and Jennifer for letting me steal your pictures :)]

Vines

This post is probably completely out of season. But like I’ve said a thousand times: I do not have a green thumb. So it really doesn’t matter what I say about growing plants, flowers, or even vines.  My mom has two vines in her back yard that are beginning to grow up the back of the house and they look great!  My great aunt gave them to her (she has a major green thumb).  I love the way a house looks with a vine growing up the exterior.  Maybe my mom will send me some pictures of her vines to share on the blog :)

Pretty Patios

Last week we looked at some awesome porches.  Today, I want to share some pictures that didn’t quite fit that category:  patios.  Some people might say that porches and patios are relatively the same thing, but it didn’t feel right for me to put these pictures in the “porch” category.  Considering the high today in Atlanta is 80 degrees, I think we have a little more time left to enjoy this fabulous outdoor weather before it gets too col.

This first picture takes my breath away every time I look at it.  Those doors. Those windows.  That view.  Be still my heart.

Sooo nobody told me that I completely misspelled the title of yesterday’s post…  Thanks a lot!  Hopefully that means nobody noticed.  I didn’t notice it until I started writing this one late last night – it said “Herrinbone floors”. Maybe everyone thought it was the redneck way of saying “herringbone”, haha.  Next time please feel free to speak up.  I love comments anyway. :)

Porches

There are only a few more weeks left to sit out on the porch and enjoy this beautiful weather.  So that’s what I’ll be doing with my glass of wine :)  If only my porch looked a little more like one of these…

By the way, can you tell that I love a porch swing?

Absolutely in love with those slipcovers and that ceiling.  Pretty much in love with everything about this picture.  I wonder where this is?  If anyone knows, feel free to speak up.

SR Gambrel — I don’t normally like red so much, but this red and white is simple enough for me.  Not to mention the surround yard looks sooo peaceful.

Weekend getaway

I’ve been looking forward to spending the weekend here with friends… And it’s finally here. I can’t wait to relax, watch football, go swimming, grill out, and have some cocktails. And the weather is going to be PERFECT! The last picture is my favorite :)

Still enjoying a little piece of heaven…

On Tuesday, my parents made one of their dreams come true by purchasing this little piece of heaven on Monteagle mountain…

I cannot wait to share more pictures because it is GORGEOUS here! The cabin is located in Sewanee, Tennessee, on the ridge of Monteagle mountain, which is about an hour from Chattanooga. I don’t know how I’ll be able to leave here tomorrow :(
