Highlights from a busy week

This week has been super busy at Mallory Mathison Inc., as usual.   “Design ADAC” has been going on this week and I was lucky enough to attend two different presentations by some of my favorite designers.  On Wednesday, I saw Miles Redd for the fourth time in my life.  I’ll never get tired of hearing him speak and seeing his work.  Y’all are already fully aware of my love and appreciation of Miles and his designs so we’ll focus on some other designers for once…

This morning (Thursday morning), I got to hear Mary McDonald and Martyn Lawrence Bullard talk about “Building Your Brand as an Interior Designer”.  It was one of the most entertaining presentations I’ve been to at ADAC.  If you’re not familiar with the Bravo show Million Dollar Decorators, you’re really missing out.  Anyway, Mary and Martyn were hilarious and down to earth.  I loved every minute of seeing them.

A look at some of the fabrics from Mary McDonald’s latest collection for Schumacher.  I would love to see some of them in my apartment. What do y’all think?  So chic!

Naturally, the green colorways are my favorite :)

Painted Floors

Who has the guts to paint their hardwood floors?  Plenty of people do.  I’m not sure I could bring myself to paint my own, but I’d paint someone else’s any day.  I would be more likely to paint my own floors if I had a beach house or a big porch.

My infatuation with painted floors began when Mary McDonald painted her client’s floor in an episode of Million Dollar Decorators.   {Side note:  I cannot wait for the next season of that show!!!!} I wish I could find a video of that episode, but here is a picture of the finished product.

If I remember correctly, it was a little dramatic because Mary did exactly what her client did not want her to do.  But that’s how Mary McDonald is and I don’t blame her because it turns out fabulous every time.  It’s hard to tell in the picture but the chevron stripes are three different colors: black, white and tan.

Anyways, here are some more painted floors:
