London: The Knightsbridge Hotel

I’m still alive.  Between moving and starting my awesome new job in Chattanooga (in case you missed it), I have been a crazy person lately.  I have so much to share about London.  And so much to share about my new job!  I’ve decided to share in chronological order:  London first…  Also, London comes first because I started writing this post over a week ago and I need to finish it.

I’ve decided that since there are so many pictures from London I am going to break it down into categories.  The hotel we stayed at in London, The Knightsbridge Hotel, deserves a post all on its own.  My cousins and I found it online and thought it looked nice/cute.  It turned out to far exceed my expectations – it was the cutest boutique hotel I’ve ever been inside!  AND would you believe that it is owned and decorated by an interior designer?  Yes, talented Kit Kemp designed every inch of it.  It is so chic I don’t know how to describe it except to say it’s all in the details.  She certainly has a unique style.  I’ll let these pictures speak for themselves.

Picture me walking around the hotel’s public rooms taking these pictures.  I’m sure the employees thought I was strange.  I also bought Kit’s book in the hotel, which features pictures of the Knightsbridge Hotel.

The Scottie dogs behind us are made out of cardboard or something… There was so much neat and creative artwork all throughout the hotel.

Don’t know how to make this picture NOT sideways.

Clearly, I was obsessed with these chairs.

One of the three hotel rooms I got to see.  The walls of this room were covered in a gray linen.  The sofa was upholstered in felt, along with the bedskirt and other pieces in the room.  I think Kit Kemp likes felt.

Walls are covered in a light green linen.  There is a mannequin in the corner of every room.

I just want to point out that this post was entirely voluntary and nobody at Firmdale Hotels is paying me to write this.  I just thought our hotel was exceptionally chic!  Although I would be more than happy to have them as a sponsor ;)

Royal Residences… and some exciting news!

You might say this post is a little late, but there is a reason why I’m just now dedicating a post to the Royal Baby…

In exactly two weeks I will be landing in London for a ten day visit!  I am so thrilled I can hardly focus on anything else.  A while ago, my sister decided she was going to study abroad in Europe for a semester.  Obviously, I was extremely jealous and determined to figure out a way to visit her.  I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t take the opportunity to make another trip to Europe.  [Ever since I went to Paris and Italy four years ago, I’ve been dying to go back.]  So after saving my money and recruiting a couple enthusiastic family members, I chose to visit my sister around the time of her 21st birthday, which is when she will be near London.  Aren’t I the best big sister ever?  Tell her that because sometimes she doesn’t think so… :)

So far we have plans to visit all of the following “Royal Residences”.  I can’t believe I’ll be seeing these beautiful castles in person in just two weeks.  To say that I’m excited is an understatement!

If any of you have any advice/recommendations I would love to hear it!!!!
