We all know that I love my Hicks pendant more than anything. But theres something about those industrial factory pendants that I love too. I just love the industrial look. I bet half of the pictures in my “kitchens” pinterest board are of those factory pendants hanging over the island.
Brass finishes are a huge trend right now and I’m so glad. Most of the time I absolutely prefer a brass finish over any finish on hardware, lighting, plumbing and furniture. I especially love an antique brass finish. However, I would be a little hesitant to use brass hardware and plumbing in my own home (as if I have a choice in my apartment!). I think I’m scared that it’s too trendy and I’ll get sick of it after a while. But if you think about it, replacing the knobs and pulls in a kitchen or bathroom is really not that big of a deal. My kitchen and bathroom cabinets don’t even have hardware, otherwise I might consider ordering some of these gorgeous brass pulls from Restoration Hardware:
My Hicks pendant is hung! I can’t stop looking at it. It’s just perfect. I took some pictures to share, of course. But first I wanted to show a before picture. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture before the old fixture was removed (too much excitement). BUT, I did find an old picture with the old fixture in it. Please know that this picture was taken literally right after I moved in and it in no way reflects how my apartment looks on a regular basis. The old fixture is the little white spotlight in the upper left corner over the sink.
And here is the old fixture after the electrician took it down:
And the Hicks pendant! (this is what my apartment actually looks like on a regular basis)
I’m thinking of changing out the light fixture that is over the sink in my kitchen. Why is it that I can make decisions for other people all day every day, but when it comes to making decisions for myself, I have to ask everyone I know and dwell on what to do until it’s too late?!?
