Beyond Chic: Great Fashion Designers at Home

I am so excited to have received a preview copy of the book Beyond Chic.  Beyond Chic is a coffee table book featuring pictures of some of the most well known fashion designer’s homes (Christian Louboutin, Yves Satin Laurent, Coco Chanel, Giorgio Armani, just to name a few).  I have to say that fashion designers have a very unique way of living.  It’s much different than furniture designers or interior designers.  After flipping through I noticed that they all lived one of two ways:  some of their homes seemed to be very empty and spare, while others seemed to be packed full of things (art, furniture, objects, accessories, etc.).

For example, Christian Louboutin’s home, which is located in the Egyptian desert, is very empty and spare with hardly any furniture or art.  Apparently he spends his time there designing shoes, resting, and practicing yoga.  Yves Saint Laurent’s home, on the other hand, is filled with abstract paintings, sculptures, colorful rugs, furniture, and countless sentimental objects.

I highly recommend you go out and buy a copy of Beyond Chic by Ivan Terestchenko.  Fashion designers are fascinating people and it’s especially interesting to see the way they live in their homes.

Golden Globes and Cuteness Alert!!!

Don’t worry, I’m not going to be one of those bloggers who gives fashion advice — I’m not even 100% confident with my own wardrobe so don’t feel capable of telling others what to wear / what not to wear…  However, I must say that Jessica Alba’s dress was sooo pretty last night at the Golden Globes.  And I am extremely accepting of Jennifer Lawrence’s dress (even though I gasped when I first saw the top portion!).

This picture disguises the irregularity of the top portion of the dress… but I’m sure if you google it you’ll see what I mean :)

While I was in Birmingham this weekend for a friend’s wedding I got to visit my adorable godson/cousin, James.  I couldn’t help myself — I had to share some pictures of his cuteness with you.  He’s such a beautiful baby!  Isn’t he the cutest? [WHY are these pictures to tiny???? Someone please tell me!]
