Back from London… and some very exciting news!!!

I’m back from London (barely).  My body is in Atlanta but my mind is still in  London.  I had such an amazing ten days. I cannot believe that it’s already over and I’m back in the real world.  I feel like I really took advantage of the time I spent in England – I did everything I wanted to do (except ride the London Eye… but I guess that’s a good reason to go back one day!).  It was so special to see my little sister at “university” in Oxford – I couldn’t be more proud of her (and jealous too!).

Unfortunately, I have already packed away all of my electronics and everything else from my desk in my apartment so I can’t upload pictures from my camera until next week.  But I will be sure to share some with you as soon as I get my hands on that camera cord.

Why am I packing?  Wellllllll… I’ve been waiting for a couple of months to share some VERY exciting news with you:  after four invaluable years in Atlanta, I’m finally moving back to Chattanooga NEXT WEEK.   I am so excited to begin working as an interior designer for Sophie’s Shoppe, my absolute favorite store.  [You may remember the post I did on artist Liz Nichols, who works for Sophie’s.]  If there is a store that represents my taste in design, it would be Sophie’s.

[Be sure to check out their facebook page… And Pinterest, Instagram (@sophies_shoppe), and Twitter…]  After checking out those social media sites, you’ll want to make a visit:

401 North Market Street

Chattanooga, TN 37405

423-756-8711

I’m thrilled to be moving back to my hometown and working as an interior designer.  It’s something I have looked forward to ever since I declared my major at the beginning of my freshman year eight years ago (((cannot believe it’s been that long))).

If you or anyone you know are looking to give your home a facelift, however big or small, I would love to help.  As always, you can contact me by email:  wheelerlewis1@gmail.com

And now… A blog post wouldn’t be a good blog post if I didn’t post some pretty pictures, would it?

A Master Bedroom Makeover

This bedroom belongs to one of my mom’s good friends in Chattanooga.  I helped give her bedroom a little face lift.  I’ve been meaning to post these pictures for months because it was finished about a year ago… Better late than never!

First I will show you the “AFTER” pictures, then we’ll look at the “BEFORE”.  She wanted the room to be simple with lots of blue.  What do y’all think????  It was basically my first design makeover on my own :)

In case you can’t tell, the “AFTER” pictures were taken on my mom’s fancy camera; the “BEFORE” pictures were taken on my iPhone.

AFTER

Newly painted walls, gold leaf sunburst mirror and custom pillow shams.

We found these small wooden tables and gold men framed artwork in her attic or around her house…

Reupholstered this club chair in some pretty blue velvet.  Ottoman was custom made by an upholsterer here in Atlanta.

We had this pretty day bed reupholstered in the blue checked fabric that matches her pillow shams and bedskirt.  The fabric is Schumacher’s Camden cotton check.  My client hung the gallery wall herself.

Map is Hung!

So, I finally hung my “vintage” Chattanooga map!  It only took over 3 months to decide where to hang it… I think I’m getting better at making decisions quickly ;)

I also hung another piece of art that I got for Christmas.  It is the cutest print of a bee done by Chattanooga artist Liz Nichols.  Her art is amazing – you must check it out! Her website doesn’t display much of it, but you can check out her pinterest board (I want everything).  AND it is available through Sophie’s in Chattanooga.  Sophie’s is probably my favorite store in Chattanooga… I could go on forever about what a cute shop it is, but that deserves a post of it’s own :) … What do you think?

Marvelous Maps!

I bought the best “vintage” map from Etsy a couple of months ago (sadly, I think the map that I ordered is no longer available, but there is a smaller/similar one here).  I love it but of course I cannot make a decision about WHERE to hang it.  Naturally, the map is of my favorite city and hometown:  Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Therefore, I want to hang it somewhere prominent.  The problem is that there are only so few prominent wall spaces in my tiny apartment.  So I might have to do some rearranging… I will be sure to let you know when I do find the right place (and post pictures, of course), but for now take a look at these chic maps… Have a great weekend!

The Clay Pot, Chattanooga

I can’t believe I haven’t devoted a blog post to one of my favorite stores in Chattanooga! The Clay Pot is a cute home/flower/gift store in the Riverview area of Chattanooga. It is owned by the super talented Joe Jumper. I’m constantly impressed by all of the creative decorations he comes up with. You can check out some of them on the facebook page or the blog, “Dirt from… The Clay Pot”. I’ve been to several different weddings that he has worked on and they were all absolutely gorgeous.

I should’ve shared this post a couple of weeks ago because they make awesome custom wreaths for Christmas. Some of my favorites were the ones hung on the front doors of Embellish, a fabulous shoe store in Chattanooga. I loved the wreaths so much I convinced my mom to have one made for her green back door.

How about opening an Atlanta location, Joe? ;)

And now some pictures of those chic wreaths:

If you’re ever in the Chattanooga area, be sure to stop at the Clay Pot to see what they have in store! And some highlights of Joe’s work and shop photos:

Take me there…

I had to share this cute video of my amazing hometown… I’m not going to lie, I got a little homesick while watching it. It truly is a dreamy place to live. It is perfect in size, appearance, and landscape.  This video represents “Chattanooga fun” perfectly.

Also visit ChattanoogaFun.com for more fun things to do in Chattanooga.

Have a great Thursday!

Riverbend Fireworks

I had to share this picture of an awesome fireworks show that I saw in my hometown, Chattanooga, on Saturday night. The fireworks show was on Saturday night, at the end of a week long music festival called Riverbend. Riverbend featured artists such as Eric Church, Goo Goo Dolls, The Band Perry, Foreigner, and many many more. Obviously, I didn’t get to go to the festival because I was working in Atlanta all week, but I’ve been plenty of times in years past. I did get to see the fireworks on Saturday night though. Anyways, I love my hometown and I just had to share this gorgeous picture on the blog. I found it on the festival’s website here. You can see more pictures at Nooga.com.
