Happy New Year!!!

I’m off to New York City to visit an old friend and bring in the New Year! I can’t believe it’s almost 2013… Maybe my resolution should be to be a better blogger :). I hope everyone has a fabulous New Year!!!!

Merry Christmas Eve!!!

I’m so happy and thankful to be able to spend an entire week at home in Chattanooga, relaxing and spending extra time with family and friends.  I’m also glad the weather has turned cold – Christmas just doesn’t feel right when it’s 65 degrees outside!  I hope everyone is having a good holiday – maybe these pictures will help get you in the spirit :)

The Clay Pot, Chattanooga

I can’t believe I haven’t devoted a blog post to one of my favorite stores in Chattanooga! The Clay Pot is a cute home/flower/gift store in the Riverview area of Chattanooga. It is owned by the super talented Joe Jumper. I’m constantly impressed by all of the creative decorations he comes up with. You can check out some of them on the facebook page or the blog, “Dirt from… The Clay Pot”. I’ve been to several different weddings that he has worked on and they were all absolutely gorgeous.

I should’ve shared this post a couple of weeks ago because they make awesome custom wreaths for Christmas. Some of my favorites were the ones hung on the front doors of Embellish, a fabulous shoe store in Chattanooga. I loved the wreaths so much I convinced my mom to have one made for her green back door.

How about opening an Atlanta location, Joe? ;)

And now some pictures of those chic wreaths:

If you’re ever in the Chattanooga area, be sure to stop at the Clay Pot to see what they have in store! And some highlights of Joe’s work and shop photos:

It’s beginning to look a lot like…

CHRISTMAS!!!!

I went home to Chattanooga this weekend and helped my mom pick out our Christmas tree.  We have a MAJOR leaner.  I mean we had to use the Restoration Hardware catalog (which is 2″ thick) along with about seven other magazines to keep the tree from looking like it was going to fall over any second.  But we just covered that up with a burlap bedskirt and it looks great now!  Nobody would ever know unless they read this blog post :)

Headboard Heaven

People are getting really creative with their upholstered headboard shapes!  John Robshaw‘s headboard designs definitely take the cake (I already dedicated a post to them), but I’ve seem some other fabulous shapes and styles in the interior design world lately.

I was inspired to write this post after seeing Robshaw’s apartment in the latest Elle Decor.  Unfortunately the pictures/article are not online.  In the article, Robshaw’s bed is a four poster metal frame with an upholstered headboard that is a variation of his Bihar headboard design.

And now for some other favorite headboard designs…

A few of my favorite things…

This post doesn’t really have a category except maybe “Inspiration”.  I just wanted to share some pretty pictures… You know it’s good design when you find yourself loving something that you normally can’t stand (i.e. mint green, obnoxious orange, etc.).

Too bad I don't have the source for this one. Love it all. The pink, the lamp, the rug, the glimpse of ikat on the back of that chair, I even love the hardware...

How fabulous is that sconce?  And hanging it on that wallpaper is just PERFECTION.  Usually, I’m not a fan of a minty green… well this is an exception! ;)

Wow. This is the obnoxious orange I was referring to. I'm not saying I could live with it, but I just like it. Nick Olsen's apartment via Lonny.

Black / White

Black and white is sort of a tricky color combination for me.  There are certain things that I cannot stand in black and white.  For example, I cannot stand black and white damask – it just screams tacky.  But a black and white abstract painting or drawing?  I love them.  I guess I’m just picky about my black and white.  I usually don’t like black and white patterns or prints unless they’re super traditional or super modern.  But I love a black and white stripe – you’ll see :)
